Leading a Triple Life: a Content Creator, a PR Professional, and a Business Owner
How it all started!
“How are you able to juggle all these?” is a question I’m often asked when people find out I’m doing all three things at once. It’s a valid question, especially when I tell people the hours that go into each of these roles and how many hats I wear on any given day. I’m not going to lie; it’s not easy. Before I start stating the obvious that you need to be efficient, organized, and have a system in place to manage your time effectively, I believe that my interest in all three things keeps me motivated and gives me the drive to keep exploring. I love what I do, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Now let me give you a quick rundown of how I got into these three areas of my life. IN ORDER!
As a bonafide Gen Z, content creation is something that comes naturally to me. I’m not sure if it’s because of this ‘unique” generation or because I have a passion for storytelling in various ways; I started with a blog and then moved on to video content, which is what I’m best known for as a creator today. And with that, I am very active on a majority of social platforms, with a significant number of followers on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, to name a few. That being said, while there’s a misconception about content creators being addicted to social media and all we do is consume copious amounts of internet content, I beg to differ. On the contrary, as the title “content creator” suggests, I spend most of my time creating content rather than consuming it.
Moving on to my professional life…
I am a Public Relations and Advertising graduate who started in the industry early on as an intern at the age of 19. The past two and half years in PR have allowed me to combine my love for writing and creativity with my passion for helping people get their brands out there. However, the best part of my job is not that I get to create great campaigns and stories (which is epic!), but the ability and access this job affords me; meeting and interacting with like-minded people in the industry who share the same passion. Since joining award-winning PR Agency, Atteline as a Junior Account Executive on the consumer team, which covers four verticals; Beauty and Health, Art and Design, Fashion and Retail, and Luxury, I get to work with an amazing team of specialists, clients and brands, meet new people, and learn something new from every one of them, be it about their careers or simply how they manage their busy lives, as well as managing mine.
And, finally, on to my little entrepreneurial haven, which started merely because I wanted to *hehe*
During the pandemic, I launched Zileke, a body jewellery brand, “waist beads” to be precise. After my futile search to get one for myself; I am very picky with jewellery, so I decided that if nobody else was making what I wanted, then I would do it myself! And, after watching so many YouTube videos on how to make waist beads, I picked up on the basics. Then I got my tool kit together, and as they say, the rest is history! I was pleasantly surprised at the first attempt, which established that I could really do it. So, I continued on with the venture. After some time, the business garnered some interest on Instagram and I began to receive messages from people who wanted to purchase the jewellery, and it has since taken on a life of its own. It is a very fulfilling feeling to hear people who have bought my pieces mention how much they love their piece and wear it every day. Working on this business has become somewhat of a passion project, and is my way to relieve stress and relax. I find it quite therapeutic stringing beads on a wire through the tiny holes in them while watching Netflix or listening to music.
Well, there you have it — a little bit about me and my triple life. I’ve always said that I’m really only one person, but at times it feels like I’m three. *haha bye*
