Always be Image Conscious – The Art of Fashion PR

Three fashion pioneers (including our fashion PR client, Giles Deacon) explore their finest collaborations in an inspirational book.

Fashion is living art. At least, that’s whats happens when three of its most experimental creatives work together. Stylist Katie Grand, designer Giles Deacon and photographer Sølve Sundsbø are longtime collaborators who’ve helped define fashion over the past 20 years.

Katie Grand normally eschews the spotlight, but you’d recognise her work anywhere. From the latest Marc Jacobs campaign to the cover of LOVE mag (where she is Editor-In-Chief) her influence goes beyond print, as she frequently calls in her famous friends (Kate Moss is on speed dial) to guest-edit and star in her work.

Giles Deacon has been a fixture on the British fashion scene since the early 2000s when he launched his label with the help from a friend – Katie Grand. You might recognise his colourful, printed designs, and will sit up if we tell you he recently designed Pippa Middleton’s wedding dress. Furthermore, he has just joined forces with Atteline’s client Aspinal of London as Design Director and recently came to Dubai to showcase the first collaboration during Vogue Loves Fashion Avenue at Dubai.

Finally, Norwegian photographer, Sølve Sundsbø is known for his conceptual photography. From experimenting with smoke to manipulating light, Sundsbø has made a name for himself by creating fantastical images that defy belief.

To celebrate 20 years of collaboration, Grand, Deacon and Sundsbø have created a book of their work called GilesSølveKatie (Laurence King, $75).

The book records the trio’s most iconic shoots, along with exclusive unseen imagery published for the first time. Grand, Deacon and Sundsbø also discuss their creative and collaborative processes through interviews and insights.

The images cover everything from their time designing the Bottega Veneta runway show to photographing Yoko Ono peeking out from an oversized, woolly jumper. They even had time to shoot with model Gisele Bündchen. Maybe you know her.

Examining clothing, photography, and styling through their trove of exhilarating imagery, the book delivers an insider appreciation of international fashion. Here at Atteline, we are left with a sense of intimacy and warmth, having romped through an archive of images that represent more than fashion’s biggest names, but rather, a scrapbook of friends creating their fantasies together and darn good image-conscious fashion PR moments.
